Tawesco celebrates a significant milestone
The ten millionth molding from its most efficient line is headed to Škoda Elroq.
The Kopřivnice-based company Tawesco, a member of the Promet Group engineering group, has reached a significant production milestone. It has produced its ten millionth moulding on its most powerful Schuler 2500 transfer line, which was put into operation in 2021 and is one of the most technologically advanced in Europe. The moulding is destined for the body of the new Škoda Elroq model, for which Tawesco presses several types of parts.
Long-term partnership with Škoda Auto
Tawesco is one of Škoda Auto's key suppliers in the prestigious Tier 1 category. These suppliers must meet strict quality, logistics, and certification standards. The mutual cooperation dates back to the mid-1990s, and today you can find pressings from Kopřivnice in almost every model of this brand – from the traditional Fabia, Octavia and Superb series to the modern Kodiaq and Karoq SUVs.
Tawesco is also an important supplier for the development of Škoda Auto's electromobility, where it presses parts for the Enyaq, Enyaq coupé, and now also for its latest fully electric model, the Elroq, on the Schuler 2500 line, which is also the destination for the ten millionth molding. "This line was built precisely to ensure sufficient capacity for the production of body parts for these models, and more than half of its production is destined for the electric vehicle segment," says Martin Krupa, Investment Director at Tawesco. A total of 90 percent of this line's production is supplied to Škoda Auto and SEAT vehicles, confirming the long-term strategic cooperation between the two companies in the field of pressed body parts.
"Our collaboration with Škoda Auto is not only a long-term partnership, but also a challenge to constantly stay one step ahead in terms of technology. With this molding, we are celebrating both the technological achievement and the team of people behind it. Each individual molding symbolizes the precision, experience, and teamwork of our employees. This milestone is therefore above all a celebration of their professionalism and determination, thanks to which we are able to maintain high production standards," says Margita Rejchrtová, CEO of Tawesco.
Production on the unique Schuler 2500 line
A significant milestone was reached on the production line built around the Schuler 2500 transfer press, which Tawesco completely designed and configured for its own needs. The entire design, integration, and robotization process took almost a year. The result is a unique technological solution that is unparalleled in Europe in terms of its overall layout and degree of automation. Tawesco is also one of only two press shops in the Czech Republic that has a 2,500-ton press. The press itself weighs 610 tons, measures 44 meters, and uses Twin Servo technology, which ensures exceptional precision, stability, and production speed.
Performance and production capacity
Tawesco currently has a total of five Schuler presses, including a test press in the tool shop. More than 92 million pressings have been produced using this technology to date. The most powerful of these is the Schuler 2500, designed for tools weighing up to 60 tons, with 82 tons of material moving at a speed of up to 30 strokes per minute with each stroke. The Schuler 2500 production line mainly produces parts for passenger cars. In addition to Škoda Auto, the main customers include other Volkswagen Group brands and Daimler/Mercedes-Benz. The line produces reinforcements, pillars, door frames, and rear ends, i.e., parts that form the structural backbone of modern cars.
Stable growth and diversification of the customer portfolio
"Orders for the automotive industry currently account for just under half of the company's turnover. Thanks to the long-term diversification of its customer portfolio, Tawesco is able to respond flexibly to changes in the industry while maintaining a strong position as a partner for the comprehensive supply of metal parts and tools not only for the automotive market, but also for agricultural and handling equipment," summarizes Denisa Materová, CEO of Promet Group.
The milestone of ten million mouldings on the Schuler 2500 transfer line is not just a number, but visible confirmation of the correctness of the long-term investment strategy, the company's technical courage and the experience gained during Tawesco's 30 years of existence.
