Health Day at Tawescu offered employees even more preventive screenings
Examinations of skin moles, breast ultrasounds, and blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar level checks. The second annual Health Day at Tawescu allowed employees to undergo preventive screenings right during work hours—and helped several of them detect health risks early on.
Registered employees were able to undergo preventive screenings during work hours at temporary clinics set up directly in the plant building. One new offering, for example, was breast ultrasound screening. Skin mole checks were also available again this year.
Employees aged 30 to 49 showed the greatest interest in preventive screenings. While dermatological examinations were utilized in nearly equal measure by women and men, blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol screenings were more frequently undergone by women.
Preventive mole screenings also proved their value in practice. Doctors detected suspicious skin changes in eight employees and recommended that they undergo further specialized dermatological examinations. At the same time, they provided them with the contact information for a specialist who will arrange follow-up care. This spares employees the hassle of searching for a dermatology clinic that accepts new patients.
Tawesco collaborated with MEDILAB—which provides occupational health services for our plant—on the preparation and execution of Health Day. Revírní bratrská pokladna also joined the program for the first time, offering preventive screenings. The specialized examinations were conducted by doctors from AGEL Hospital in Nový Jičín.
The health program was further enhanced by Molekuly života, which offered aromatherapy, aromatherapy massages, and tastings of natural products from Levandulové údolí. Employees were able to sample both traditional and unconventional herbal beverages, including the popular “elixir of longevity.”
