From volunteer firefighters to children’s camps and a music festival. We support our employees’ activities

This year, our support reached, for example, young athletes in Bohumín, children attending camps in Štramberk and volunteer firefighters in Kateřinice. We also helped on the other side of the country, for example young majorettes in Pečky near Prague. Let us take a closer look at some of the projects.

Football camp

During August, BOSPOR Bohumín football club organised a day camp for younger and older youth players. Our Group contributed to its organisation thanks to the initiative of Rostislav Vzatek (Promet Corporate Services).

During the camp, the boys took part in a number of training sessions and a friendly match. An important part of the programme also included joint activities that helped strengthen the team ahead of the new football season. These included volleyball, minigolf, swimming and a trip to the bobsleigh track in Jablunkov.

River clean-up

Young anglers from Frenštát pod Radhoštěm also enjoy spending time outdoors, and not only with a fishing rod in their hands. In April, children from the Na háčku fishing clubs took part in a clean-up of the Lubina and Lomná rivers, organised in cooperation with the environmental department.

A total of 25 young anglers joined the event, supported by their siblings, friends and parents. Altogether, around 46 volunteers took part. They removed not only plastics and ordinary waste from the areas around the rivers, but also a sofa, a pram, an exhaust pipe and a mobile phone. The day ended with everyone roasting sausages together.

The activity was introduced to us by Bronislav Bartoš (Tawesco), who leads the youth fishing group. According to him, events like this teach children not only how to fish, but also how to behave responsibly towards nature.

Supporting volunteer firefighters

Volunteer firefighters also received our support this year. Antonín Burda (Promet Czech) applied for a contribution towards a children’s day camp organised by the volunteer fire brigade in Žabeň. Around 25 children and four instructors were expected to take part in the camp. The funding was used to purchase T-shirts and caps for the participants.

Another of our employees, Lukáš Byrtus (Tawesco), decided to support the volunteer fire brigade unit in Kateřinice. Through the Employee Sponsorship programme, he received a contribution towards the purchase of new lightweight Dräger firefighting helmets.

Children’s camps, dance and majorettes

Supporting children’s leisure activities is an important part of our programme. One example is Tábory Šipka in Štramberk, which also works with children with disabilities. Snježana Pjentáková (Tawesco), whose son regularly attends the camps, applied for a contribution to support their activities.

The organisation is led by Pavel Honeš, a teacher at the Motýlek Primary and Nursery School in Kopřivnice. Thanks to the team that looks after the children, participants can spend their holidays in an environment adapted to their needs. Our Group has supported Tábory Šipka in the past, and this year we continued this cooperation.

Dance is also a shared interest of the nieces of Jana Josífková (Promet Corporate Services). Noemi Helclová, Isabel Helclová and Andrea Josífková attend the DC GLOW dance group, which specialises in disco dance, show dance, and disco duo and solo disciplines.

The girls take part in competitions across the Czech Republic, and their group has achieved a number of successes, including a national championship title. The contribution from Promet Group will help finance the rental of dance facilities, the production of costumes and props, training camps and competition entry fees.

Our support also reached Pečky near Prague, where Tawesco Automotive operates a production plant. Petra Žiláková, who works there, applied for a contribution for her daughter Rozárka, who is involved in majorettes. The funding will help purchase equipment needed for this activity, from competition costumes and footwear to batons and pom-poms.

We also contributed to a summer residential camp thanks to Eduard Mintěl (Tawesco). His application concerned a camp organised by the Syslíkov association and run by Natálie Uhlířová. During the summer holidays, the children stayed at the Svákov campsite near Soběslav in South Bohemia.

Music by Kališovo Lake

Not all of the projects we supported are focused on children’s activities. One example is Kalich Fest, a summer music festival held by Kališovo Lake in Bohumín, which attracts more than a thousand visitors every year.

This year, we contributed to its organisation thanks to Michal Hmira (Promet Group), who is a member of the organising association Město Bohů. The sixth edition of the festival took place on 22 August and featured, among others, the British bands Mother Vulture and Lewis Crown with his band, as well as Ostrava-based Third Favorite Thing.

Our support was intended primarily for the festival’s technical setup, sound and lighting, facilities for performers and accompanying activities for visitors.
