The goal of the new award is to highlight the significant role women play in industrial sectors. Denisa Materová was nominated for the award by the board of directors of the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic for successfully taking charge of a family-owned industrial group and driving its further development with an emphasis on investment, innovation, and competitiveness.

“I am convinced that the Czech Republic has many women in industry—from the lowest positions through middle management all the way to top management—we just don’t talk about it much. So I am very pleased that we have brought this to light, and I am very grateful to be the first in a long line. And I hope that line will be very, very long,” said Denisa Materová as she accepted the award before a packed Rotunda at the Brno Exhibition Center.

She took over responsibility for the Promet Group from her father, René Mater, two years ago. Today, she leads an industrial group whose companies operate primarily in the fields of mechanical engineering, metallurgy, and engineering, and she continues to drive their further development. She also views the award as recognition of the work of people across the entire group.

“I greatly appreciate this award. At the same time, I see it as recognition of the work of our management teams and employees throughout the company. Without them, I wouldn’t be standing here,” said Denisa Materová.

Other significant awards were also presented during the gala evening. Professor Petr Demeč received the Czechoslovak Engineering Personality Award, and the National Center for Industry 4.0 accepted the Veletrhy Brno Award.
