The interview with Promet Group CEO Denisa Materová in HROT magazine portrays Czech industry as an environment built on know-how, people, and tradition. "I don't like it when people say the Czech Republic is just an assembly plant. That's simply not true," she says. "A lot of very sophisticated things are produced here, and there is a huge number of skilled people and interesting companies."
At the same time, she opens up topics concerning corporate management, generational handover, and responsibility towards the community.
"It's great to have experts around me who understand production much better than I do. And it's important to let them do their job," says Denisa Materová.
According to her, the combination of various competencies is the key to moving the companies within the Promet Group forward. Closer to final products and higher added value.
In the interview, she also talks about the everyday reality of management. About finding a balance between control and trusting the team, as well as how important it is to surround yourself with people who can push back at the right moment.
The conversation also covered the handover of the company to the second generation of the Matera family, comparing the management approach of her parents, who founded it in the 1990s, with the approach of Denisa and her brother, who took over after thirty years of operation. They also discussed the relationship with employees and the regions where the Promet Group companies operate, as well as sustainability and the usefulness of the companies to their surroundings.
