The history of PROMET GROUP and the whole group PROMET started in 1992, when under the name PROCENTO spol. s.r.o. began the era of successful development to the current form of group of companies. PROCENTO initiated its activity on the market in area of metallurgy and delivery of raw materials for foundries and steelworks in Czech Republic, especially pig iron. Later on, the production has been added to the family with PROMET FOUNDRY which joined the group then. The location of business in central Europe was from very beginning in favour of PROMET in terms of deliveries of raw materials for foundries and steelworks in Europe which also added up on the development of PROMET.
Together with expansion of companies abroad, there was a time for the name change, from where PROMET meaning PROCENTO METALURGIE was born. Even then the group was created by companies in a metallurgy segment. The success of this segment supported the development of a second segment which currently fully represents PROMET and this is machinery.
Machinery is currently stand alone segment for PROMET and opened new opportunities of cooperation and connection between metallurgy and machinery. The first step to open this segment was a company KOFING a.s. producing the steel structures for metallurgy industry and others. Not very long after a new addition came to machinery segment which was a former Tatra subsidiary called TAWESCO s.r.o. This company significantly extended the segment as a stamping tool, metal stampings and weldments producer.
In 2013, TATRA TRUCKS has become a part of group by 35% which is owned by PROMET GROUP and CZECHOSLOVAK GROUP, who owns the majority share. With this heavy truck producer there has been another expansion not only in machinery segment, but also in metallurgy segment with foundry and forge under the name TATRA METALURGIE.
The newest member of PROMET GROUP are companies ZPS Prefix that focuses on machining and finalising the mouldings, companies under name STECOMTRA focused on components mainly for truck trailers and company VAMOZ – Servis focusing on engineering and contruction industry. Last, but not least recent purchase was 25% share of company ELEKTROMONT Brno which focuses on electricity projects.
